Welcome to FitandAble.net! We’re really happy to have you as part of our health and fitness community that we like to call Team Fit & Able.
If you’re like most of our visitors you’re committed to leading a life of good health, physical fitness, and personal wellness. Whether you’re an experienced athlete or just trying to figure out your first steps, you’re set in mind, body, and soul on pursuing those goals.
Pursuing good health and fitness isn’t just an adventure. It’s a life long journey.
Our mission is to help you along that journey.
There is no get fit quick scheme. At least not one that’s actually healthy for you.
Making big life changes is incredibly intimidating. We know! But we also know that it is possible for you to be successful.
Better yet once you see the results you’ll want to keep going. We don’t want to call it an addiction but . . . you won’t want to quit.
Fit & Able has been staging events, training athletes, and educating the public for over 20 years now. That’s a ton of accumulated experience we have to share with you!
This page will guide you through our best resources, all our activities, and anything else we believe will help you start your journey to better health and fitness.
If you’re knew to Fit & Able and haven’t already, check out our About page. There you’ll learn about Fit & Able’s mission and story and get to meet the team behind the organization.
As you’ll hear again and again, we believe that one of the keys to success is surrounding yourself with people who support you. For one, it’s so much harder to do this all by yourself. And, two, the more the merrier, right?
So, first, please subscribe to our newsletters. The best way to do this is to sign up for one of our events! You can also zip an email to Support@fitandable.net too.
Don’t worry; we don’t share your email with anyone else and you can unsubscribe with a click of a button.
Then, follow us on social media. We are most active on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
We post all of our new content plus updates and links for all of our events and training programs here and it’s the easiest way to stay up to day on what’s going on with Fit & Able. We’d love for you to be a part of these communities!
Finally, if there’s something you need or if there’s anything you’d like to suggest, contact us directly! We can’t help you best if we don’t know what you want or need. Feel free to zip us an email to ask questions, suggest new topics for podcasts and blog posts, or to just give us some feedback. We’ve only got a small team and will try to respond as fast as possible.
FitandAble.net is our HQ. We aren’t a gym like the YMCA and we don’t sell canned fitness programs like Beachbody. But everything we do have you can find right here.
Why might you want to dive into the world of health and fitness? Because of all the ways it can benefit and enhance your life.
Here are just a few of the ways it can do that.
Fit & Able staged it’s first event almost 20 years ago. Now we have over a dozen events each year for three main sports: running, track & field, and triathlon.
You can find all of our upcoming events on our race calendar.
But hey! Do you need someone to stage or time your race?
Not only do we host our own series of Fit & Able events, we also manage and time races for other organizations. If you’re interested in our event management or race timing services, head on over to our Timing & Management page to learn more.
If you’ve gone through all of our resources but feel ready for more then you need to check out Team Fit & Able. This is our premier four-season training team.
Endurance Magazine named Team Fit & Able the Best Charity Training Team in the Triangle in 2015.

Getting started with a new training regimen or exercise program is always the toughest part. One day you'll be in the shape you want but getting your mind and body moving is intimidating of many people. That's why we've crafted these five guides to help you get started on your new health and fitness journey.
How to Find Your Current Fitness Level - The first step of any new fitness plan is to find out where you are now. Here are a few easy fitness tests to find your current fitness level. This will help you find the physical or fitness areas you may want to improve on.
How to Set Your First Fitness Goal - Once you know where you are you can decide where you want to go. But to be successful you need to put serious thought into your fitness goal. This guide will help you craft a S.M.A.R.T. goal that will ensure you make the big changes you want.
Developing Your First Training Plan - With your fitness goal set you can create the plan that will see you through to the end. This action plan will detail step-by-step each phase of your training and will help you measure your progress. If you follow your plan you will be successful.
How to Beat the Temptation to Quit - Making big life changes is hard. When we face roadblocks the natural inclination is often to quit. This guide will give you a variety of tools that you can use to keep yourself focused on your goal, beat the negative self-talk, and achieve your fitness goal.
Training Gear for Beginners - Sports and exercise activities have so much cool gear that it can be hard to sort out what you need to start with. We've pulled out the basics for what you'll need to get started with running, swimming, and cycling. You can always get more gear later.
If you’ve made it all the way down here, then you’ve seen everything we have and know that we’re here to help you.
But here’s the tough part. It’s up to you to do the hard work and put the time in. No one has lost weight just by reading how to lose weight. And looking at a picture of a guy doing pushups is not the same as doing it yourself.
It’s time to get up out of your chair and get moving!
